Southland Bible Church Youth Quilt project
Doing those quilts was an amazing experience.
It seemed so simple- raise money, buy fabric, sew it together and quilt it!
AHHH I just forgot one thing- as one of the only people in the group with a sewing machine I was going to have to sew a lot of blankets together... and I forgot about one thing- I HATE TO SEW! but it got done.
As we quilted, we talked about the Ukraine, and about some of the stuff that Summer had told us from when she had gone over there.
As we quilted we thought about each blanket and pictured the child that it would go to, we thought about how the bright blues, greens and pinks would brighten a childs imagination.
After we finished them and shipped them off, we kind of forgot about them, until we received the pictures.
It wasn't until after getting the pictures and seeing some of the kids with their blankets that it really hit us what God has enabled us to do.
I have to say that for me it was a stressful project- but so completely worth it! The orphanages in Ukraine remain in my prayers!
And I pray that one day God would send me over sea's somewhere to serve him, if it be His will, It would be neat to be able to go to Ukraine, to the very orphanage that the quilts went to.
Please let our youth group know if there are any other projects we could do for the Orphanages in Ukraine. and please keep us updated of prayer needs, and praises there as well!
In Jesus,
Keesha
